Government of Canada eliminates conditional permanent residence

In order to uphold the commitment towards family reunification and to support gender equality, the Government of Canada has removed, as of April 28, 2017, the condition applicable to certain sponsored spouses or partners of Canadian citizens and permanent residents to live with their sponsor for two years to preserve their permanent resident status.
